CHAING MAI
We first arrived in Chain mai on the 25th July, we spent the first day getting our accommodation and scouting around the town. Georgie and I have both been to Thailand before, but neither of us had explored Chaing Mai and heard great things so were itching to go. We stayed just behind the river from the main town, where most of the budget & backpacker hostels were. It was a 5 minute walk into the main town so it was ideal. Chaing Mai was like a ghost town, most travellers were down on the islands doing the 'Full Moon Party'. So it was slightly quiet, but we randomly bumped into some friends from home in Starbucks, which was nice to catch up and see what there plans were. We spent the rest of the day walking around and readjusting to the time difference, food and heat.
Our day of visiting an orchid and Butterfly Farm, Elephant trekking, white water rafting, swimming in a waterfall, bamboo rafting, visiting the long neck Karen tribe and what our tour guide called a 'Trek' more like a 15 minute walk through a field.
A very amusing day, White water rafting was probably my favourite, got absolutely soaked and was no help to the movement of the rubber boat what so ever, spent most of it on the floor having hysterics with Georgie. Met some Spanish guys from Barcelona...who spoke VERY little English, they loved it when I put my foot through the bamboo raft so it was soaked. GREAT
Was an amazing experience, the elephant ride was really fun except for the way they treat the elephants? It was an amazing start to our trip.
I LOVE ELEPHANTS. there so cute.
