GILLI TRAWANGAN

INDONESIA

We arrived on Gilli after a 2 hour 'fast boat' journey which i was very close to throwing up on. Then got taken up this side track into the village by some random Indonesian who was basically taking us all around town so i was getting agro and said to him "where the fuck are you taking us" he laughed i was like "NO seriously where the fuck are you taking me" then he took me seriously. We arrived at a 3 bedroom home-stay which was clean sweet and cheap. This was called Pondi Home-Stay which was our home for the next 8 nights.

On Gilli there are no motorised vehicles its all horse and cart, walking or bicycle. The Island is very small and you can walk around in about 2 hours which of course we did discover. Its exactly what we were looking for when we went to Indonesia, PARADISE.

The main strip is very small which you can walk up and down in like 25 minutes without going to far to get out of the main action. Where we stayed was in the village which is behind where the main bars are which you go out too. If you go right at the port that's where the beach is some of the nicer accommodation which is more expensive. So we obviously stayed in the village, we became very close friends with the women who owned our home-stay. Who cannot cook to save her life, on the first day we thought we would try the banana pancakes, they were RAW. never again.
